Module One - Representation, Practice and Procedures

Requirement:

You may choose to do this term paper on your own or with a partner (1). If you choose to work with a partner your paper needs to be 5 pages and your presentation needs to be really good, as two heads are working together instead of one.

You will be scheduled to present your term paper to the class during the last two weeks of class so as everyone will get a turn. You will discuss with us what you have learned, use flash card, power point, pictures, charts, whatever you deem necessary to get your points across to the class.

The project is worth 100 points.

You need to present for a minimum of 4 minutes maximum of 8 minutes.

Objective:

This project will prepare you for your final project in Individual Module as you will be given a tax case and you will do the research to present to the IRS in your tax clients benefit.

Both the above exercise and this one will teach you to be more comfortable and assertive when handling representation issues before the IRS revenue agents. Officers, at audits and if you so choose to go on to tax court.

This paper must be typed, can be double spaced, 1" margins and 12pt font total length minimum 3 pages double spaced (5 pages if partnering).

You may choose from one of the following topics:

    1. Identity Theft and Your Tax Records
    2. Tax Relief in Disaster Situation
    3. Tax Information for Members of the US Armed Forces
    4. The IRS Freedom of Information Act
    5. How to Appeal a Tax Dispute? What can Appeals do for You?

Please let your instructor know by the time set by him/her which one you have chosen, if you will be working individually or as a partner with someone else in this class.
